Colombia – Trip of a Life Time !

I have been planing this trip in search or Peacock Bass and Payara for more than 15 years and Colombia exceeded my expectations!

This was truly an epic adventure with some great anglers from around the world including two Greek Canadians, Chad & John with his son Demetrie and four Brits including Chris & Duncan along with our host Steve Townson – Amazon-Angler and his UK partner in crime Richard Clarke. Our first two days were spent on the Orinoco River targeting huge Payara, with plenty of Sardinata thrown in to boot, followed by 6 days Peacock Bass fishing in one of the tributaries which Fish Colombia has exclusive access to offering some true Giant Peacock Bass.

Our last two days of this 10 day EPIC adventure were spent back on the Orinoco fishing for more Payara and Sardinata. This trip must offer the best Peacock Bass and Payara fishing combo on the planet!

Fish Colombia has built a New lodge on the Orinoco River along with a fantastic mobile and comfortable tent camp which is moved to offer the best peacock bass fishing depending on conditions and time of the year. The accommodation and food were perfect with ice-cold drinks each day making it one of the most enjoyable trips anyone in our group of well-travelled anglers having experienced to date!

I have written a feature article in collaboration with photographer and guide Wesley White which will feature in an issue of Fishing Worl Magazine later this year as well 😉

I also got to feature in this great video on flyfishing for Payara on the Orinoco River with Matt Harris – shot by Photographer & guide Wesley White!
